In the bottom of the first inning Jerry Downs singled in Chiqui Carerra
and Dayan Cubas to give the Sabers the early 2-0 lead. The quick lead gave
Sabers starter Bryan Quinn the confidence to cruise through 5 1/3 innings,
limiting the Raiders to 2 runs on 5 hits while striking-out four. Gulliver
starter Gaby Quevedo was unable to escape the fourth inning, lasting 3 2/3
innings, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits and the most impressive stat was that only
walked one batter. The Sabers bats were able to come away with an 8 runs, 12
hit performance once it was all said and done and made a big statement in the
highly competitive 4a district 16.
