Lazaro
Rivera set the tone for the Columbus Explorers when he turned on the second
pitch of the ball game for a double and was able to come into the score off a
Danny Lynch single.
Following
the RBI single Braddock starter Eric Manoah would walk Mike Vinson but that was
it for the Explorers bats in the 1st. Manoah was able to regroup and strike out
the remaining two hitters and ultimatley not allow another earned run in the
ballgame.
Manoah
would go to distance only allowing 4 hits, 3 walks and striking out 6
explorers.
In the
bottom of the sixth inning Columbus was nuring a 2-0 lead. Yet, with Mike
Vinson long gone it was time for Yency Almonte to close the door on the
Bulldogs.
Yency
fresh off facing the minimum in the 5th woud run into some trouble in the
sixth.
With
two runners on and two outs in the inning Ivan Nunez stepped up clutch by
bringing in both base runners via a two-RBI triple (making it a one run game).
In the
bottom of the 7th Yency Amonte looked to put the rough inning behind him and
close the door and preserve Mike Vinson's victory. But, the Bulldogs showed no
mercy. Back-to-back singles would force the Explorers to turn to pitcher Bryan
Garcia in hopes of cleaning the mess.
Garcia
would hit the first batter he faced (Willie Padron) and load the bases for the
Bulldogs. After a Gaby Mundo strikeout up came Brian Hernandez. Hernandez would
rip an 0-1 pitch for the game winning single and cap off a dramatic win for the
Bulldogs.
